This is the first Perry Mason mystery filmed after Raymond Burr's Death. Tony Caruso, Paul Sorvino's role, was named after the actor Anthony Caruso; the writers combined his part with Burr's rather than recasting the Perry Mason role, as a tribute.

Goofs
The killer drops the dagger at the crime scene and is seen walking away from the crime scene without the dagger by the Leg Man. The Leg Man finds the victim's body immediately after the murder. The police find the dagger in the trunk of the defendant's car. Nobody could have picked up the dagger and planted it in the trunk of the defendant's car.
