Peter is retired and lives in Spain. But the situation of his department store corporation is precarious, and so he returns to the helm in Hannover, recruiting his aged cronies Erich, Herbert and Max to whip the company into shape.
Peter's team need to convince their bank to approve the reorganization of the company. They spread the rumor that South-Korean investors are interested. Stock prices rise. But Peter's nemesis Rottmann thwarts that plan with his own agenda.
The corporate board accept Peter's plan: expand rather than downsize. Rottmann secretly buys Bellheim stocks to gain a majority. Peter starts an affair with interior designer Andrea. His wife Maria surprisingly returns from Spain.
Peter is torn between the opening of a new store and spending time with Andrea. At the stockholders' meeting Rottmann attacks him fiercely. The share price drops. Rottmann offers to buy the company. But Peter doesn't give up.
