In my opinion, it's one of the worst sequels of all time, especially since the first film is one of my favorite French films.

At the end of the first film, following the development of the final act, the two characters have forged a deep friendship and decide to leave the police force to start over.

In this sequel, and solely to desperately try to replicate the winning formula of the first film, without any explanation, the two are back on the force, and François (Thierry Lhermitte) despises René (Philippe Noiret) just as he did at the beginning of the first film, which ruins the very touching ending of the first film.
