It was during one of his missions in Norway that Antoine learned of his wife's death. He abandoned his experimental submarine and quickly returned to Paris. Hélène was found in the Seine; she had taken barbiturates. Even though he hadn't been with Hélène often during their six years of marriage, he knew her well enough to believe she was incapable of suicide. So, who did it, and why?

There 's an enticing debut but the movie does not keep its promise; even the subject is as old as the hills : the husband ,always away from his wife because of his job and does not really know whom the woman he married is ; there're no flashbacks and all that Antoine learns is through people the dead met in her double life ; needless to say ," special guest star "Philippe Noiret steals the show from the rather listless principal in all his scenes ;and the ending is finally disappointing ,taking the easy way out.

It was Sebastien Grall's debut ;he would do much better with "les mille" (1995):at the beginning of WW2,the coming of German political (or else)refugees to France .
