Surely the Germans would have realised it was not Wolff transmitting by the way he did so - in those days a skilled Morse operator could tell one from another by the way they sent their messages. Then the fact that Wolff did not seem to be using an Enigma machine, which would encipher his messages very surely - although at the time, the Nazis had no idea the British had cracked Enigma, thanks to the Polish. One wonders whether Wolff could have sent messages on such a small radio the thousand miles from Cairo to Tobruk.
