Heiny Srour managed to blend an almost surrealist style with some heavy historical reality, weaving beautifully dramatized sequences with archival footage. Hope and despair take turns in this kaleidoscopic journey through the collective memory of Lebanese and Palestinian women. The film shows us a refreshing women-centric war narrative, that I can't remember if other films have attempted or topped.

Collectively, it expresses Arab identity onscreen and has influenced storytelling across the Middle East.
