'Zebedy Colt' directs and stars in another distorted piece of hypersexual drama as an artist who catches his wife having an affair with another woman and his male model prompting him to conjure a supposedly foolproof plan to eliminate the trio.

For the most part it's a rather talky psychological drama as Colt is repeatedly emasculated by his domineering wife well played by Crystal Sync (who co-starred in Roberta Findlay's harrowing horror 'A Woman's Torment' 1977), beguiled by the puritanical CJ Laing (as the eponymous Janice who's since been corrupted by his unfaithful wife), willing to manipulate the support he enjoys from Renee Sanz (a capable actress who also starred in Colt's more gruesome 'Unwilling Lovers' (1977) his only true ally.

The final act is around fifteen minutes long and contains the most disturbing scene in the film, not explicitly graphic but sufficiently lurid to coax a cringe, consistent with Colt's morbid fascination with the nexus between pleasure and pain which is a common theme in many of his pictures. Colt's film's routinely explore twisted characters (which he often also performs), symptomatic of deep psychological malevolence, or struggles with childhood trauma who inevitably react out of compulsion, fantasy or in this case, demented jealousy deriving immoral pleasure from the pain of others.

Like all those other films that peel back the layers and expose the seedy centre, the execution doesn't quite match the ambition although there's sincerity and style, he's an acquired taste whose work is worth sampling.
