Jacques Tati's final film - and the first not to feature M. Hulot for than over two decades - was a much more modest affair - filmed on videotape for Swedish television - but nevertheless manages to provide quite a diverting entertainment.

Although Tati performing the function of master of ceremonies speaks more than usual and is on view for longer than in his more recent films, he's still absent for much of the time sandwiched between various old variety routines.

But on those occasions in which he is actually placed centre stage he proves he's still remarkably agile for his age. Although the distinctive Tatiesque deadpan style is rather undermined by the laughter and applause provided by the presence of an actual audience.
