Cabaret

Christopher Isherwood, who created the character of Sally Bowles in a 1937 novella, described Liza Minnelli as "utterly wrong for the part." He based Sally Bowles on Jean Ross, a 19-year-old cabaret singer and aspiring film actress who lived under the delusion that she had star quality, the antithesis of Judy Garland's daughter. Harold Prince, the producer of the 1966 Broadway musical, concurred with Isherwood that Minnelli was miscast: "Sally shouldn't sing well... It's a dilemma built into the casting for that role. Sally shouldn't sing well, but Cabaret is a musical."

When Brian thrusts the plate of cake at Sally, the cake slides off the plate and slips down to her lap. In the next shot the cake is up on her chest.

The closing credits run in complete silence.

In the film's first telecast, on ABC-TV, all reference to Max's bisexuality was edited out, changing the motivation one of the other characters completely.
