This very silly Spanish horror is notable for having no nudity and relatively little violence, yet somehow it's entertaining enough in its near-hysterical action and performances. A woman whose fiancee has died in a car "accident" comes to visit the brother he did not get along with at a castle in the countryside. Simultaneously a pretty nurse arrives, ostensibly to care for the men's crazy invalid mother (a particularly hammy performer), though we soon grasp she has been lured there for some other, nefarious purpose. There's also a mute older male servant who's forever sneaking around leering or grabbing at these women, plus a third younger female whose role I wasn't entirely clear on because...um, this movie did not claim my full attention. It's low-budget, but also the print I saw (while English-subtitled) was notably poor-quality, looking like a third-generation dupe from an old VHS tape or something like.

Anyway, this is not a very good, well-made or well-acted film. But it is fun in its way, particularly once it finally gets to the revelation of Satanic meetups in the inevitable hooded robes, attempted human sacrifices, and a character who's supposed to be dead turning out not to be. (Not only that, but after apparently being unconscious for a long time, he springs into full action-hero mode, wearing an unusually low-cut T-shirt to show off his hairy musclebound chest. So while short on cheesecake, this movie eventually provides some beefcake.)

It all seems very sloppily and probably hastily put together, with no points for "style" or original ideas or much of anything else. God knows it is not scary. But unlike many of its ilk, particularly from this period, it is not boring--it provides a certain crude, corny entertainment value, without actually being a spoof. As lame 70s Satanic thrills go, it is more fun than most.
