Daws Butler's voice for Sam closely resembles the one he used for Pete Puma in the Bugs Bunny short Rabbit's Kin (1952). However, Butler didn't voice Pete Puma; that was Stan Freberg. In fact, Freberg and Butler were comedy partners and close friends, collaborating on comedy records and even a radio show. They both influenced each other and as such, many of their voices and characters sound very similar.
