Doris Day's costumes were created by Irene, a well-known, single-named designer who received her second Oscar® nomination for her work here. Two years after working on this film, Irene committed suicide, jumping from an upper-floor window of Hollywood's Knickerbocker Hotel.

In this case, the "construction company" consisted of a handful of workers who did not have the area between their trucks roped off and were occupied with lifting the heavy load. There also was no barrier to prevent the cab from stopping and discharging a passenger in the active work zone. Safety defenses are sometimes inadequate, ignored, or intentionally bypassed. Regardless of laws and regulations, industrial accidents happen. An internet search reveals that hundreds of workers in the U.S. die each year from falling objects and that tens of thousands are injured.
