A stagecoach is attacked by a group of outlaws who make off with a pile of money. Unfortunately for Mexican Juan, the sheriff believes he's one of the criminals and has him locked up.

But the beautiful Cheel thinks Juan is innocent, and offers to help him escape. Overhearing their plan, the real mastermind behind the heist forces Juan to act as the runner for the money.

Gunfire at Indian Gap begins promising with a Stagecoach attack, then plods for a good half an hour and then things pick up, especially when Macready and his gang (George Keymas and John Doucette) turn up, fighting over money, Doucette giving Vera Ralston a lecherous eye, but not to an exciting level- you just hang in to see how things pan out, how Juan (nice to see a Mexican hero for a change) who isn't the smartest galoot will get out of this fix he has been embroiled in. Vera Ralston I always liked, finding her cute and charming but she is miscast here, but, of course, the great George Macready towers over all. Not a great western, but not a bad one.
