Frank Capra's 'It Happened One Night' inspired two Hindi films : Chori Chori and the 90s Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi.

This one roughly follows the plot of the original with addition of Johnny Walker as a comedic element. The lead actors Raj Kapoor , Nargis had been paired on stage multiple times and this was another of their successful outings.

The film goes at a good pace and never feels boring. Many of Raj Kapoor's films (though he did not direct this) were famous for having a great soundtrack and this one is no exception. Almost all songs have aged well. Notable classics include the likes of 'Yet Raat Bheegi Bheegi' (proving once again that one does not need a choreographed array of two dozen dancers to make a hit song).
