How Borka Gorikov became a Bolshevik or a Good Soviet military adventure movie

War drama, adventure. The film adaptation of the story "School" by Gaidar a healthy man (Arkady Petrovich), with which the picture has significant differences, but we will still evaluate it as an independent work. We came across this picture again by accident, and we no longer remember the details. I was hooked by this picture because it was the debut role of Leonid Kharitonov, the same Ivan Brovkin from the popular Soviet comedies "Soldier Ivan Brovkin" and "Ivan Brovkin on Virgin Soil." And the participation of the famous Mark Bernes, an actor and singer, in this film. And here's a brief opinion - A good Soviet military adventure movie. We would like to note right away that there are no flaws in the painting (with the exception of a couple of controversial points, which we will discuss in a separate paragraph), but for now we will focus your attention on the expressive advantages of this painting.

So, here they are: 1. The script - the picture tells the story of the formation of the young man Boris Gorikov from a patriot loyal to the tsar to a Bolshevik, a fighter of the volunteer red detachment, fighting for the happiness of the working people of all mankind. We will see what trials the young man will have to go through in order to understand the difficult situation in Russia in 1917-1918. We will see what kind of people influenced Boris, how many tears the hero had to shed, how much he realized and eventually became a reliable support for his comrades, joined the Red Security Council and destroyed one White Guard colonel who had spoiled a lot of people's blood. The hero will meet both friends and enemies along the way. He will show his boyish enthusiasm more than once, often with sad consequences for himself. Nevertheless, he will successfully harden his character and become a reliable fighter of the revolution.

2. Fights and battles are well done. Although there are not a lot of extras, her efforts should be noted. Of course, the special effects don't seem as great as they did the year they were released, but you can still see the quality of the work. The fights look intense and spectacular, and you worry about the red heroes from the bottom of your heart.

3. Costumes and decorations - everything is done with high quality. It is clear that most of the scenes were shot on location, and the pavilion moments do not stand out much from the general series. Reds look like reds, whites like whites, peasants like peasants. Everything is recognizable and atmospheric.

Now about a couple of controversial points. The first is Boris's document, thanks to which he successfully escaped the suspicion of the Whites. Where did he get them from? Who put them in his bag? And secondly, seven-minute episodes were cut out of the picture. Apparently, the censors tried to please the bloody cornhusker again, which is saddening.

A little bit about the main characters: 1. Boris Gorikov, played by Leonid Kharitonov, is a naive young man who is going through a long journey of becoming. From a royal colonel, he became a loyal fighter of the revolution, a change of views takes place in his mind, they help him to stand on the right side in the coming civil war, he manages to show enthusiasm and prove to his comrades that he can be relied on. Leonid Kharitonov did a great job with the role. The features of the future Ivan Brovkin are already visible here. Bravo!

2. Afanasy Chubuk, played by Mark Bernes, is an old soldier, a front-line soldier who went through an imperialist massacre, a friend of Boris's father, for whom the young man became almost his own son. He acts here as a mentor, leading Boris to the goal. Mark Bernes did a great job in this role, it's not very easy to recognize him here in makeup, only his voice gives out familiar motives. Bravo!

And of course, Mikhail Pugovkin and Vladimir Basov, the director of this film, who played the supporting role, should be noted here. Both looked authentic and convincing. Bravo!

Unfortunately, this painting cannot be called a masterpiece, it is rather a good and high-quality work, quite passable, but this does not negate its advantages. She definitely deserves your viewing.
