The Fleischers were putting their best foot forward in this series of one-shots, including new songs by Sammy Timberg, their turntable animation for a good three-dimensional effect, and, as just two-strip Technicolor; Disney had the three-strip system locked up in an exclusive deal for cartoons for another year.

But the success of this cartoon, such as it is, lies in those spectacular details, as the cartoon's story is not particularly compelling. By this stage, the Fleischers' standout series was Popeye.
