Latest X-Men Casting Updates: Who’s Been Cast in the Marvel Reboot?

While most Marvel fans have their sights set on Avengers: Doomsday hitting theaters in December, Disney has been steadily building anticipation for its reboot of Marvel’s X-Men with some big casting announcements. To refresh your memory, the upcoming reset is being helmed by Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier, with a script being developed by Lee Sung Jin (“Beef”) and Joanna Calo ("The Bear"). The untitled project is currently in the pre-production phase, and likely headed for a mid-2028 release.
Here’s all the cast news we have so far, with much more to come …
Sadie Sink (Jean Grey)
As confirmed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sadie Sink’s big post-”Stranger Things” role is none other than Jean Grey, an OG X-Men character with powerful telekinetic abilities. In previous X-Men films, the character was played by Famke Janssen (GoldenEye) and Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”).
Kit Connor (Cyclops)
Best known for his role as Nick Nelson in the hit graphic novel adaptation “Heartstopper,” Connor makes the leap from heartthrob to hero as Scott Summers aka Cyclops, one of the founding members of the X-Men. James Marsden (Enchanted) played Cyclops in the first three X-Men films, and will return in Avengers: Doomsday. Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One) and Tim Pocock (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) have also played Cyclops on screen.
Samara Weaving (Emma Frost)
Scream queen Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) has been cast as Emma Frost, a mutant with telekinesis and the ability to turn her body into diamond form. Weaving follows January Jones (“Mad Men”) and Tahyna Tozzi (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), who played versions of the character in previous films.
Inde Navarrette (Rogue)
The tragic star of indie horror mega hit Obsession was announced to be joining the cast as Rogue at Disney's D23 fan event in Anaheim. She takes over the role from Anna Paquin who is the only other actress to portray the power-absorbing mutant in live-action films.
Christopher Abbott (Charles Xavier)
Seen in films like Poor Things, Possessor, and It Comes At Night, Christopher Abbott will step into one of the the most powerful minds in the in the MCU to play Professor Charles Xavier, the mutant mentor and founder of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
Maya Boyd (Storm)
Newcomer Maya Boyd joins the cast as Storm. The young actress will make her feature debut with the X-Men in 2028.
Adam Driver (Mister Sinister)
The D23 Entertainment Showcase erupted in surprise when Adam Driver appeared on the screen to announce he would be playing Nathaniel Milbury, better known as Mister Sinister. "Kevin and I have been talking for years about maybe joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe," the actor told the crowd. "And I think we finally found the perfect film at the perfect time."
