Casting announcements were among the biggest news at San Diego Comic-Con this year, as the biggest franchises took the stage in Hall H. Here is everything we learned in Hall H and beyond.

Ryan Gosling and David Jonsson Enter the MCU

Ryan Gosling finally gets to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing Ghost Rider. The actor took to the Hall H stage during Marvel Studio's presentation to announce both the film and the director, Shawn Levy, who Gosling collaborated with on the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter.

Oscar-winning director Ryan Coogler finished out the night by revealing that David Jonsson will be taking over the role of Black Panther in the third film, slated to release in late 2028.

The director praised the young actor for his performances in The Long Walk and Alien: Romulus before handing the microphone over to Jonsson who thanked the crowd, Coogler, and Kevin Feige but chose not to divulge any more details about the film.

Jamie Campbell Bower and Simon Pegg Join "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power"

Earlier this week, Prime Video announced Jamie Campbell Bower, most recently seen as Vecna in the final season of "Stranger Things," will join "The Rings of Power" as Celeborn, Galadriel's husband who disappeared during the wars of the First Age.

Hall H was the first to learn Simon Pegg would also be headed to Middle Earth to voice the Balrog, a powerful demonic creature who will meet with the Dark Lord Sauron (Charlie Vickers) as he continues his mission to forge the One Ring.

Laura Linney Revealed as a "Lanterns" Cast Member

HBO Max's new DC series "Lanterns" has yet another luminary among its ranks, the creative team revealed on Friday. Laura Linney will play a Guardian, a race of immortal beings who founded the Green Lantern Corps and act as the organization's leaders.

Emily Kinney Brings Her Walking Dead Character to "Dead City"

Actress Emily Kinney, who played Beth Greene in 50 episodes of "The Walking Dead," was announced to be joining the cast of "Dead City" in Season 3. Kinney will be reprising her TWD role in an alternate reality episode where the zombie apocalypse never took place.

"Percy" Cast Its Hercules

Over at the Percy Jackson and the Olympians panel show creators Craig Silverstein and Dan Shotz were close-lipped about any future cast members we might see. But when a fan asked about Hercules, Silverstein confirmed that they had already cast the character. The demigod doesn't make his first book appearance until the sequel series "The Heroes of Olympus," so it's unclear whether this mystery will be solved in the upcoming season.

Expect Major (and Minor) Cameos in "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe"

There were equally elusive casting hints at the Stuart Fails to Save the Universe panel, where Chuck Lorre and team told Hall H there are more Big Bang Theory cameos to look forward to throughout the seasons, including the return of some minor characters fans might not expect.
