Biography

Leqi Vanessa Kong is a Chinese/English bilingual screenwriter based in Los Angeles. In 2012, she graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University with a BA degree in English literature. 2018, Leqi graduated from the American Film Institute Conservatory with an MFA degree in screenwriting. She has written four award-winning short films, including The Chef (Silver medal in 2019 Student Academy Awards), July 4th 2020 (Best original screenplay in 2025 Indie Short Fest). Her feature screenplay "Newton in China" has advanced to the second round in the 2019 Sundance Development Lab. Her pilot script The Coup is a finalist in Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival (2024).
