- Director Ivan Kavanagh reportedly auditioned 500 kids for the role of David in SON. He said he saw a lot of good actors but didn't want a polished "Hollywood" performance. He wanted an actor so natural that there was no difference between his demeanor on and off camera. As soon as he saw Luke's audition tape, he knew that he had found what he was looking for.
- During his audition for The King Of Staten Island, he was asked to improvise a scene with Judd Apatow. Luke mentioned a comic book character that he had made up when he was 5 years old called "Iceflash." They did an improvisation around that and Judd liked it so much that they asked Luke if they could write Iceflash into the story.
- Waited until his last day filming The Sinner before telling Bill Pullman, "May the Schwartz be with you".
