Biography

Liam Downie

Mini bio

  • Liam Downie is a Scottish screenwriter and director known for "The Walk" (2025), "Scarlett" (2022) and "The Rain Man" (2018) as well his upcoming projects; "Distrust", "One of Us Is The killer", "Hatred" and "Frequency: 1998" (Working title).

From a young age, Liam has found a release in the creative arts, penning his first short story titled "V SABRE" in primary 6/7, a sci-fi tale that was inspired by the video game series "Halo". From that point on, Liam seen writing as a release from day-to-day life and a chance to build and explore new worlds, he would spend his high school years penning many short stories in his spare time, gradually shifting from sci-fi to horror. When reaching his fifth year at High School, he opted to take film studies over maths (which he disliked) and this is where his interest for film was sparked even further.

After leaving high school, he pursued Film and TV at New College Lanarkshire where he worked his way from NQ to HND level before finally graduating in 2019/20. Since the conclusion of his course, he has continued to write scripts for both short films and video games, as well as turned to literature to expand his creative reach.
