- At the Virymo! Theatre, he rose from a novice actor to a seasoned stage performer, and there he met his future wife, actress Nadiia Petrenko. Since 2019, the couple lived in Kyiv, where Oleksii worked at the Vivat Children's Musical Drama Theatre, acted in films and TV series. The couple had a daughter.
- In the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he joined the defense of the country. He served in the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces as the senior sergeant of a reconnaissance platoon, constantly staying on the front line. He took part in the offensive in the Kherson region and defended Bakhmut and Soledar. Twice wounded in combat, he each time returned to the front after recovering. He was killed on August 17, 2023, during a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia sector. His death was announced by his wife, Nadiia Khilska, the following evening.
