Biography

Rafael Viñoly was born on June 1, 1944 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He was married to Diana Viñoly. He died on March 2, 2023 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

Uruguayan architect who designed office and residential buildings, hotels, concert halls, stadiums and airports around the world.

He grew up in Buenos Aires. His mother was a math teacher, and his father was a theater director.

The military junta in Argentina compelled him and his family to move to the United States. He held a teaching position at Harvard University before founding his architecture firm in New York.
