- Steven Kammerer is an award winning filmmaker and actor based in Vancouver, Canada. He has been nominated 6 times and won 2 awards for Best Director. His film "Ada" (2019) has garnered over 50 total nominations on the festival circuit, with 19 wins including 5 wins for Best Short Film. The story of "Ada" returns the brilliant 19th century female mathematician, daughter of the poet Byron, to her rightful place at the origin of our computer age.
"The Purgamentum" (2019), which he co-wrote & co-directed, has screened on SuperChannel and Apple TV.
With his partner, Julie Bruns, he heads Meep Productions which is releasing the first pirate themed vertical micro-drama, "Beneath Crimson Sails" in early 2026.
With a Masters degree in German Literature from Queen's University and a PhD ABD in the fields of history, philosophy and media studies, he has continued his scholarship with the recent publication (Sept 2024) of a chapter on "The Witcher" franchise of novels, games & TV show with Oxford University's "Popular Culture and Philosophy" series. His chapter of the book develops unique perspectives on world building in fantasy literature and the history and philosophy of magic.
In 2024 he recorded his piano compositions and showcased his unique technique of piano improvisation at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver. These recordings have been released on the Steven Kammerer channel on YouTube.
On the crew side of film he put in 4 seasons in the production office of Warner Bro.'s "The Flash", where as assistant production coordinator he was intensely involved in the massive 5-part cross-over event "Crisis on Infinite Earths" with "Batwoman" and "Legends of Tomorrow". He credits this experience with deepening his perspective on the logistics of managing mega-scale TV productions.
As an actor he has booked 47 roles on vertical micro-dramas. He's worn the 3 hats of producer-director-actor on the comedy webseries "The Eviction" (2020) and on the vertical drama "Beneath Crimson Sails" (2026).
