Jaxsa is a filmmaker with a personal history marked by adversity and overcoming challenges. From the age of 5 to approximately 15, Jaxsa battled retinal cancer, a challenge that required hospital visits extending until the age of 20. At a critical point, he had to travel to Brussels to undergo experimental treatment not available in Spain, in an effort to save his vision. Despite these efforts, Jaxsa lost total vision in his left eye, although he managed to preserve vision in his right eye, albeit with a high eye diopter.
Paradoxically, this experience profoundly influenced his appreciation for cinema. Jaxsa came to value film for its horizontal format, which mirrored his own visual limitation, and its two-dimensional nature, which resembled his perception due to lacking binocular vision.
Motivated by this newfound perspective, Jaxsa excelled in his audiovisual career, receiving honors for graduating with excellence. He later specialized in directing at ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya), the prestigious film school in Barcelona, recognized as one of the most important in Europe.
Since then, Jaxsa has established a successful career as an independent filmmaker. Up to 2026, he has received awards at more than 100 international festivals, a testament to his talent and dedication to the art of filmmaking.
