- Julissa Scopino is an independent filmmaker bringing a unique mix of creativity and business expertise. As a director, writer, producer, and SAG actress, Julissa's creative journey has taken her into motion pictures, short films, theater, TV, spec commercials, music videos, and docuseries. Being Costa Rican-American, Julissa has been conscious about supporting the Latinx community through her storytelling, as well as Latinx talent representation on screen. Julissa is a true lover of female-driven stories achieving against-all-odds. Her signature style reflects a passion for themes of family, identity, self-sacrifice, class, spiritualism, race, technology, social expectations, and most importantly, humanness. Some genre favorites are magical realism, sci-fi, gothic, drama, fantasy, thrillers, romance, and surrealism. With an M.F.A. in Cinema Studies, Julissa is now pursuing her M.B.A. at the Zicklin School of Business. She formerly assisted renowned film producer Richard N. Gladstein, whose credits include "The Hateful Eight," "The Cider House Rules," "Reservoir Dogs," and "Finding Neverland."
