Anna Day is a Mexican-American writer and director born and raised in Boyle Heights, California, whose work is rooted in culture, nature, and spirituality. A proud product of her community, Day is dedicated to bringing authentic brown narratives to the screen as well as stories that reflect the richness, complexity, and truth of her lived experience.
Holding a Bachelor's Degree in TV and Film and an Associate's Degree in Physical Geography, Day brings both a cinematic eye and a deep connection to the natural world to her craft. Her films sit at the intersection of land and identity, weaving together the spiritual and the cultural to create work that is as grounded as it is visionary.
At the heart of Day's mission is a commitment to representation. Not the kind that checks a box, but the kind that changes the conversation. Through her lens, she is carving out space in the film industry for realistic, fully realized brown female narratives that have long deserved a light.
