Mini bio

  • Rodrigo Plata Conde is a Mexican film composer. He began his professional career in 2017 with the original score for Santiago Manríquez's documentary El Hombre de la Montaña. Since then, he has composed music for a wide range of national and international film projects across genres including drama, thriller, and documentary.

Rodrigo's musical voice blends piano writing with cinematic orchestral textures and subtle electronic elements, while exploring emotional depth and prioritizing the film's core concepts, characteristics, and overall narrative.

His scores have accompanied films selected at festivals such as "Shorts México", "MICGénero", "Feratum Film Festival", "Festival Internacional de Cine en Ensenada", "East Koenji International Film Festival" (Japan), and "Carcosian Film Night" (Belgium). In 2023, he was nominated for Best Original Score at the "Independent Shorts Awards" for "Antes de que el Sol se Apague", directed by Ari Figueroa. In 2024, he received another nomination in the same category at the "Terror in the Bay Film Festival" for his score in "Sacrificio", directed by Aldo Ortiz.

Rodrigo studied classical piano for over 15 years, completed a Bachelor's Degree in Music with a focus on composition at the University of Sonora, and was a private student of Mexican composer Alejandro Karo for two years. He continues to collaborate with both emerging and established filmmakers and developing scores for short and feature-length productions.
