Joslyn "Jahsi" Vance is an independent filmmaker, writer, director, and producer whose creative journey began as an actress on The Eve Show. Inspired by seeing industry icons like Kim Fields transition behind the camera, Vance discovered her true passion for storytelling extended far beyond acting.
Her love for writing began early, penning poems in elementary school, raps and songs in high school, and later adapting books into scripts, which led her to study screenwriting. She has since written The Scar of Mercy, a deeply personal short film that won Best Inspirational Script at the World Cannes Film Festival 2025.
Vance has built a diverse career across film and television, writing and directing the award-recognized short The Shop, directing the feature Unhinged Love, and producing projects such as Bedridden starring Earthquake and Donnell Rawlings, A Naughty Christmess Story, and Mixed Girl.
Through her production company Soul Culture Films, she continues to create work rooted in authenticity and impact. With experience spanning acting classes, script development, and production studios, Vance is well-versed in every aspect of filmmaking, but her greatest passion remains directing, where she brings stories to life with vision, truth, and heart.
