Martha Roosevelt was born on July 8, 1835 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. She was married to Theodore Roosevelt Sr.. She died on February 14, 1884 in New York City, New York, USA.

Was considered a socialite.

Her families sympathies were with the south during the American Civil War. She had two brothers fighting on the Confederate side.

She was the paternal grandmother of Eleanor Roosevelt.

She died on the same day and in the same house as her son Theodore Roosevelt's first wife. This was two days after the birth of Theodore's first child Alice.
