Biography

Hector G. Magana is a Mexican-born writer and director pursuing his BFA in film and TV direction and production. He successfully accomplished the career's first year in the one-year intensive conservatory module in 2017, where multiple of his written and directorial works were featured in film festivals around the world.

Hector's 2018 film 'Blame Game' was co-written by the Jersey writer, musician, and filmmaker Mark Galasso and features Vanessa Morales, a NY-based actress who has been featured on the "Gotham" TV-Series. The short film has been awarded in multiple festivals, including the 2018 editions of Mexico International Film Festival, and Burbank International Film Festival.

His written and directorial work 'El Narco', is a short film that showcases the point of view of a young innocent nurse trapped in a conflict related to a drug cartel. The film seeks to stop the glorification of the drug cartels in media.

Hector G. Magana is a Mexican writer and director. In 2016 he moved to the United States to develop his screenwriting and directing actors skills, as well as to improve his technical knowledge of cinematography.

Hector's projects address issues like society's complexity, morality, and the duality of being. His most recent work, El Narco (2019) follows a young and innocent Mexican doctor when her boss asks for help interrogating and torturing a policeman he believes works for a cartel. In 2020 the short film is set to make its festival run, and Hector is currently working on a feature based on the characters from the short.

Two of Hector's projects have been selected in festivals. It's Okay (2017) and Blame Game (2018) were screened at the 2017's L.A. Neo Noir Novel, Film & Script Festival, and 2018's Burbank Film Festival, respectively.

Currently, Hector keeps developing Sand and Blood, the working title of the feature film based on his short El Narco, while he also helps with the production and screenwriting of projects from up and coming directors.
