Biography

Andrea Hickey is an American Multi-Award Winning Actress and Television Academy Member. She won the Best Actress Awards for her first films "The Tiny House Movie" and "John Doe: A Western Tale" in various film festivals. She is nominated again for the Best Actress Award in the Rome International Film Festival (USA), and The Wild Bunch Film Festival for her role in Gammons' Greed. She also won the Best Supporting Actress Award in the Tokyo Cowboys Film Festival in Japan. After impressing Margie Haber in her Master class, she took Andrea on as a private client. Andrea is Equestrian trained specializing in riding Western, bareback without a bridle or reins.

Andrea was cast in college productions while still in high school. She was awarded multiple acting scholarships to college including New York University Tisch School of the Arts, and her stage and training experience is extensive. She won the Best Actress Award and was nominated for the prestigious Irene Ryan Award for her supporting role in the original comedy, "A Writer's Block," written by Playwright, Stephen Hancock. She also won the Shakespearean regional competition award at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). She graduated from Belmont University with a Major in Theatre and a Minor in English. She graduated with her Master of Arts in Counseling specializing in Eating Disorders and Mental Health.

Early Life and Education

Andrea Hickey grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. She developed an interest in performing during her childhood, often reenacting scenes from the television shows 'Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman' and 'I Love Lucy' with her sister. While studying theater in high school, she was cast in a number of college plays, and subsequently received an acting scholarship. She graduated from Nashville's Belmont University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010. In reference to her training, Hickey later noted, "Belmont believed in me. That belief shaped my life."

Hickey also earned a master's degree in counseling at Liberty University.

Career

Hickey moved to Tucson, Arizona with her husband in 2012, choosing to balance a career in counseling with occasional roles in local plays. She began to pursue screen acting in 2018, and was signed by an Arizona-based talent agency. Initially performing in independent short films and commercials, she eventually won a guest part on the Los Angeles television serial 'The Young and the Restless.' She also worked as a model, largely appearing on international retail products.

Her first feature-length film was the 2019 independent production 'The Tiny House Movie,' in which she played the romantic interest of a man in comedic crisis. The performance earned her the Best Actress award from the Sunny Side Up Film Festival, an annual ceremony traditionally presented in Oklahoma.

Two years following her screen debut, Hickey began targeting work with the prominent Lifetime television company. Regarding her aspirations, she noted, "LA is an extremely competitive market, and I understand how daunting it can feel when people around you appear more successful. Because of this, it is important that I set my own measures of success instead of competing with the person next to me. I remain focused on my own goals and celebrate them all." She eventually won the lead role in the 2021 Lifetime feature 'Dying To Marry Him,' which was scripted by veteran writer Christine Conradt. She was also cast as a guest star on the INSP series 'Wild West Chronicles,' in which she plays a headstrong wife who motivates her husband to pursue his dream.

'Dying To Marry Him' was covered in periodicals from Hickey's alma mater, Belmont, and her residential town of Tucson. In the film, she portrays a deceitful wedding planner who intends to win her ex-boyfriend back before he marries another woman. While discussing Hickey's work, producer Chris Lancey stated, "I had the pleasure of casting Andrea as the villain in my movie, and she has proven to be one of the most valuable people involved. She works to truly embody her characters to give an authentic, honest performance. Playing the villain is not an easy task, but Andrea did it effortlessly."

She also became a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and was certified by the Screen Actors Guild. While commenting on her work in screen roles, Hickey stated, "Things have happened fast. I've been really blessed and I am really grateful for that." She subsequently won parts in the projects 'Dark Prince' and 'The Seed of Consequences.'

Personal Life

Hickey married her husband in 2013. During her teenage years, she suffered from an eating disorder which derailed her pursuit of acting and required extensive treatment. She subsequently used her counseling degree to help people with similar problems. In addition to acting, Hickey enjoys singing, and has a mezzo-soprano vocal range. She grew up admiring Lucille Ball and Jane Seymour.
