Rosie is a Chinese Canadian Director and Producer from Vancouver, Canada.
Rosie's debut film Esther & Sai secured festival selections from SJIWFF in Saint John’s, NL and Reel Sisters in Brooklyn, NY before an exclusive sale to Air Canada for global in-flight distribution in 2022. Set in the 1970s, the film explore the unseen tensions faced by two immigrant nursing students arriving to their new home.
Her follow-up film Sorry For Your Cost was featured on CBC Radio and brought home the Best Script Award at the 2024 Chilliwack Independent Film Festival. The film is described as simultaneously "whimiscal" and "devastating" by reviews for its juxtaposition of capitalist greed with the intimacy of a working class family's sudden loss.
Rosie's work has been supported by the National Film Board of Canada, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF).
Rosie is proud to be descended from a great lineage of Asian female filmmakers in the Pacific Northwest. Specifically "Double Happiness" by Mina Shum and starring Sandra Oh was a forceful catalyst for Rosie's personal journey into filmmaking.
Rosie loves to enjoy cinema at The Rio on Broadway, The Park on Cambie and at International Village (FKA Tinseltown).
