Biography

Udit Nijhawan is a Cinematographer based in Los Angeles. He began in documentary filmmaking before transitioning to fiction filmmaking.

Nijhawan served as Camera Operator on 'The Price of Free', which won the 2018 Sundance Grand Jury Prize and received Emmy and Humanitas Prize nominations in the documentary categories. He worked as Director of Photography on Netflix series Cinema Marte Tak and Camera Operator on 'Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous' which won the IIFA Digital Award.

His short film 'Hidden Skin' screened at London Film Festival and DIFF in 2014. He served as Co-Director and Cinematographer on 'Flagged' and Director and Cinematographer on I'WALY', earning Best Director at Lee Strasberg Film Festival.

He earned his Master's in Cinematography from American Film Institute in 2024, where he shot two 35mm shorts selected for AFI Visual Essay Showcase. His collaboration as Cinematographer on 'Best Eyes' won the Grand Jury Prize at DGA Awards in 2025.

As a cancer survivor and hearing impaired filmmaker, Nijhawan brings a distinctive perspective while volunteering with Cancer For College and Cankids.
