Biography

Alexander Duff was born on November 10, 1849 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. He was married to Princess Louise. He died on January 29, 1912 in Aswan, Egypt.

Great-grandson of his wife's grandmother Queen Victoria's uncle King William IV by William's mistress, Dorothea Jordan.

Died as a result of he and his party being shipwrecked off the coast of Morocco on December 11, 1911. Upon being rescued, the survivors had to walk four miles before finding accommodations. Duff fell ill with pleurisy, and died six weeks later.

Son-in-law of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.

Father of Princess Alexandra. As he had no surviving son, Alexandra assumed his titles - Duke of Fife, and Earl of Macduff - upon Duff's death.
