Carmichael B. Castaños is an award-winning Filipino composer and music producer known for his collaborative work music for film. He’s a Philippine-born, Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist renowned for his ability to evoke deep emotions and bring rich, intricate textures to life in his music.
Carmichael’s recent projects include the co-composed, music-produced, and song-written the original music for the short film Awit Ng Puso (Howling Gale Entertainment) highlighting a blend of traditional Filipino kundiman titled "Tiwala Sa Sarili" and modern pop-folk "Girl In The Mirror" that both featured Emmy-Award winning Actress, power housed Singer-Songwriter Aaliyah Magcasi. The film recently won the "Best Score" at 2025's Las Vegas Filipino Short Film Festival and "Audience Award" in 2024’s FILAM Creative Film Festival; the original score, co-scored with composer Rasec Marc, a second co-scored film for Howling Gale Entertainment’s debut feature film Tahanan (Home) which earned "Best Music Score - Feature Film" award at the Marina Del Rey Film Festival in 2023.
Recent works contributing to the soundtrack and original song on StudioCanal & Blue Eyes Fiction's Woodwalkers 2 (Ain't In A Rush), Jagged Edge Productions’ 2024 Christmas feature film, Christmas With The Pups 2: Pups Alone ("Tomorrow It’s Christmas"), his versatile music production and songwriting is joined by the artist KIA. A fun and unique vision, pairing the warm-feeling drama of classic Christmas pop with a fun pop-rock tone. ITN Productions’ Piglet’s Return ("Face To Face") is a mixture of dark pop and electronic genre fusing the soul-pop voice of KIA. EMRJ Entertainment’s BAIT ("Night of Day") is a mixture of classical piano infused with KIA’s crooner singing with a hint of eerie dissonant textures.
Despite his success in music, Carmichael remains humble and is thrilled to be part of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL) team as one of the Los Angeles administrators.
