Biography

Danylo Hauk is a filmmaker from Lviv, Ukraine. After getting his BFA and MFA in economics and marketing from Ukrainian top-school Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Danylo worked as a creative copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather, and as marketing team member of the Kyiv International Short Film Festival. In 2016 Danylo was admitted with a scholarship to the MFA of the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California for the directing program, where he has written and directed four short films - three of them were recently offered international distribution on TV and VOD platforms. In these films, he explores themes of immigration, identity, social tensions, and the value of human lives in the modern world. A commissioned writer, Danylo is developing a narrative feature, "I, ILGA", a coming-of-age drama set in the 2014 Donbas at the outset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He's also working on a personal film project "All Our Wars" about his recent experience of being detached from his war-torn country while living in Los Angeles.
