Roberto Jay is a multicultural actor, writer, and filmmaker known for portraying emotionally grounded characters navigating pressure, responsibility, and identity in modern America. Shaped by an urban upbringing in Roger’s Park Chicago, and then Bedford-Stuyvesant in central Brooklyn, Roberto was influenced by cultural diversity, resilience, and survival. His work reflects the lived experiences of urban communities often navigating complex intersections of culture, masculinity, mental health, and belonging.

He trained at Actors Theatre of Louisville, where he developed a foundation in both classical and contemporary performance, cultivating a disciplined, character-first approach to storytelling. He then continued to advance his skills by training under the likes of Jerod Haynes and Doug Warhit. His performances are marked by authenticity, and emotional depth; often portraying men operating inside systems of authority, family obligation, and personal conflict.

As a filmmaker, Roberto creates character-driven stories rooted in cultural realism and psychological truth. His producing credits range from short to feature films, both domestically and internationally. Roberto is also a recipient of several awards including Best Actor and Best Screenwriter, for some of the works he created through his film collective and production company, Stray Jay Films. His work frequently explores identity ambiguity, the pressures of responsibility, and the internal struggles faced by individuals balancing cultural heritage with modern expectations. Through both performance and writing, he seeks to elevate narratives that center grounded humanity rather than spectacle.
