Biography

A storyteller in motion-from the dance floor to dramatic scenes to dynamic fight choreography-Athena Garcia brings a rare combination of grace, grit, and grounded performance to the screen. With over 20 years of experience in dance, she has trained and competed at a high level, appearing on shows such as World of Dance and Floored on Roku with Liza Koshy.

When faced with the lack of formal hip-hop dance programs in college, Athena pivoted toward acting, a path she had already begun exploring through theater classes. She earned her BFA in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, where she gained hands-on experience in both performance and filmmaking. During her time there, she wrote, produced, and starred in her own short film, Venus Rising, now available on YouTube.

Her passion for performing her own fight scenes led her into the world of stunt training and screen combat. She began at Joining All Movement (JAM) where she attended a workshop which ignited her dedication to the craft. Athena has trained with 87North Action-the renowned stunt team behind John Wick and The Fall Guy-specializing in action fighting and stunt performance. She now trains at Tempest Freerunning and continues to train at JAM.

As an action actor, Athena has appeared in Abbott Elementary, No Good Deed (alongside Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano), and the Amazon Prime series On Call. Her range spans from heartfelt roles such as a passionate schoolteacher, a woman navigating love, or a grieving sister caught in gang violence, to high-octane action roles featuring strong, physical women with powerful stories. Most recently she has starred in an upcoming feature film entitled Cinnamon where her role included her own stunt performance.

Athena has co-founded a production company with her creative partner. She completed writing her first feature film and produced a proof-of-concept short from it, in which she also starred and served as both producer and prep-production assistant director.
