Stewart Cohen(II)
- Director
- Cinematographer
- Producer
Working your way through Cohen’s portfolio of commercials and stills, you are as likely to see heartfelt testimonials as Game Day humor, real people as celebs, with campaigns spanning fashion, kids, sports, wildly diverse storytelling and portraiture... He’s gone swimming with sharks in the Galapagos and come up for air to stage a tongue-in-cheek musical comedy starring the townspeople of Mansfield, TX. They sing about being too busy for tourism.
Cohen's company, SC Pictures, serves major clients including AT&T, Coca-Cola, Four Seasons, and Frito-Lay. He brings a consistent, creative philosophy to his work: telling stories that feel human, authentic, and artfully captured. Perhaps the most startling accomplishment is that each project hits exactly the right note for its intended audience.
Unlike the proverbial "jack of all trades," Cohen has trained his eye on a single pursuit: giving life the shine it deserves. It’s an innate sensibility that has been honed into a craft, an inclination toward the positive - the "best light," literally and figuratively. The fact that he does this for brands - and with almost singular success, shooting both live action and stills - is almost incidental. Beyond his skill set, Cohen has earned a reputation as a safe bet willing to take risks.
Cohen’s books include a monograph titled Identity, his biopic project featuring subjects from the well-known to the unusual, and Seeing Red, takes a fun jab at the urban myth of redheads becoming extinct.
After high school in Montreal, Stewart ventured south and attended University of Texas in Austin, followed by the film program at USC. He then worked as an apprentice to legendary photographer Helmut Newton, whom he counts among his most impactful mentors.
