Eric Mathis is a Las Vegas-based filmmaker, award-winning director, and producer known for creating bold, imaginative horror films. Originally from Monroe, Louisiana, Eric began his career directing music videos before turning his focus to his first love: horror cinema.
Early in his career, Eric worked across a wide range of roles on independent film sets, gaining hands-on experience in nearly every aspect of production, from production assistant to second assistant camera. These formative years gave him a deep understanding of the filmmaking process and helped shape his practical, filmmaker-first approach to directing.
Eric later worked with the cult filmmaking studio Full Moon Features, where he continued refining his craft and developing the distinct visual and storytelling style that would define his work. As his experience grew, Eric transitioned into directing full-time, beginning with a werewolf concept short inspired by the legendary Louisiana folklore creature known as the Rougarou.
He followed that early success with the horror project The Macabre, which went on to win Best Cult Film at Shockfest 2022, further establishing his voice as a rising genre filmmaker.
Eric’s second feature film, INfernal, is a star-studded horror comedy packed with cult film icons, outrageous humor, and over-the-top horror. The film has successfully toured theaters across the United States and has earned multiple awards at film festivals nationwide, including recognition at Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle Horror Fest. INfernal also celebrated a major milestone with a premiere screening at the prestigious TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, cementing its growing reputation among horror fans and festival audiences alike.
Eric is in pre-production on his most ambitious project to date, Rougarou, a seven-figure budget Southern Gothic werewolf film rooted in the folklore and dark mythology of Louisiana. Drawing inspiration from the legends of his home state, the film aims to deliver a haunting, atmospheric horror experience grounded in regional history and supernatural lore.
Today, Eric continues to develop bold horror projects that push his creativity further with every film, building a body of work that reflects his lifelong fascination with monsters, folklore, and the darker side of imagination.
