Immanuela Lawrence

Immanuela hails from the Netherlands, but grew up in Kenya, and Cameroon. The fifth child of adventurous missionaries, she enjoyed an international education that gave her an early onset Canadian accent. At university, she found comedy and improv in Amsterdam selling tickets to Boom Chicago, where the likes of Seth Meyers and Jordan Peele performed nightly. Inspired to become really good at improv, she dedicated herself to the craft. To this end, she moved to Canada, where she met Keith Johnstone and his star pupil, Fubar creator Dave Lawrence whom she promptly married and formed a creative partnership with. Immanuela is now a member of the Writer’s Guild of Canada and America West, with multiple produced film and TV credits under her belt. She is the co-creator of two television series: Fubar Age of Computer (2017) and TNT Fubar, (2022). Her profile feature on Loose Moose founder Keith Johnstone earned her an Alberta Magazine Award nomination. She is still trying to become good at improv at the Loose Moose Theatre. Immanuela and Dave have two kids who often feel embarrassed by them and live in Calgary.
