Loren Steffy is an author, publisher, journalist and executive producer for the Rational Middle film series. He is a regular contributor to Texas Monthly and a managing director for 30 Point Strategies. He also is the founder of Stoney Creek Publishing Group, a boutique publisher of narrative nonfiction. Steffy is the author of five books, including the real-life courtroom drama "The Last Trial of T. Boone Pickens" with Chrysta Castañeda. His other works include "Drowning in Oil: BP and the Reckless Pursuit of Profit," "The Man Who Thought Like a Ship," and George P. Mitchell: Fracking, Sustainability, and an Unorthodox Quest to Save the Planet." His latest book, "Deconstructed: An insider's View of Illegal Immigration and the Building Trades," will be published in September 2020.

Steffy was an award-winning business columnist for the Houston Chronicle for nine years and prior to that was the Dallas Bureau Chief for Bloomberg News. A frequent speaker and commentator on both radio and television. During his journalism career, Steffy was a four-time finalist for the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism, business journalism's highest honor and the recipient of numerous state and national awards. His reporting on the collapse of Arthur Andersen was selected for the 2003 edition of the "Best Business Stories of the Year."

Steffy also worked at the Dallas Times Herald and other publications. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Texas A&M University.
