He was born in Shiraz, Iran. He graduated from the University of Arts in Shiraz in 2006, and developed his interest in cinema by attending two-year film courses under the supervision of Abbas Kiarostami. His previous films were shown and awarded at various festivals. "In Darkness" was created in 2020 based on a story by Samad Taheri.
