- Maxwell "Max" Gilbert is an award-winning filmmaker from York, Pennsylvania. Inspired by a lifelong passion for movies, television, and storytelling, he began pursuing filmmaking during the summer before his senior year of high school.
He is currently studying film and television at The University of Alabama while minoring in theatre. As a neurodivergent filmmaker with autism spectrum disorder (Asperger syndrome) and ADHD, Maxwell draws from emotionally driven and imaginative perspectives in his storytelling.
His work explores psychological themes, atmosphere, and artistic visual storytelling across multiple genres, particularly fantasy and horror. His debut short film, A Dance Away (2026), won Best Experimental Film at the WILDsound FEEDBACK Film and Screenplay Festival.
