Lonnie Frazier

Biography

Lonnie Frazier

Mini bio

  • Lonnie Frazier is a director and impact producer working in documentary film. A Maryland native, she began her career in the San Francisco Bay Area and has since focused on connecting nonfiction films to the audiences who need them most.

She directed Box of Rain (2022), a personal documentary about finding healing and chosen family in the Grateful Dead community, which won Best U.S. Documentary at the Austin International Art Festival and Best Editing at the Toronto International Women Film Festival. She also directed The Last Puppet Show, which premiered in 2025 and won Best Film at the Southside Film Festival.

As founder of Field Notes Impact, she builds outreach and distribution campaigns for independent documentary filmmakers, helping films find the audiences and communities that need them. Her impact campaign credits include the Peabody Award-winning DEEJ, a film about autism and inclusion, Between the Mountain and the Sky, and Loving John.

Lonnie lives in Maryland, where she enjoys hiking with her spoiled dogs and watches a completely unreasonable number of film trailers.
