Biography

Thomas Hamby, who writes as D B Thomas, was born in Tennessee USA and shares his time with his Finnish born spouse between Florida and Finland. He is primarily of English and Scottish extraction with deep roots in the area settled by Colonial Americans in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. A first known forebear arrived in what is now Baltimore, Maryland from England in 1650. He is an actor and a writer, motivated in no small part by the writings of Jane Austen. His first novel, "Sanditon on Reflection" was released in 2021. In December 2023, his publisher, Vintage Editore of Bari, Italy, released an Italian language version titled "Recordi di Sanditon". His newest novel, "Mr Darcy - Through the Looking Glass" was released in 2026. He is a retired diplomat, highlights of which are meeting three U.S. Presidents, several foreign heads of state and while serving in London, had the honor of being presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, with whom he had a captivating, if brief, conversation about the importance of agriculture to the past and future of civilization.
