Heather Muriel Nguyen (they/them) is an asexual non-binary autistic Vietnamese-American actor-writer-director who is passionate about creating collaborative spaces and joyful stories for trans, gender-nonconforming, and queer communities, particularly of Color and neurodiverse, because spaces made by and for us can be life-giving and life-saving. Their award-winning films range from visceral magical realism to witchy fantasy to grounded sci-fi and have screened at queer and AA/NH-PI film festivals, such as NewFest, CAAMFest, and Outfest’s Opening Gala. Heather's films are streaming at the OutMuseum, Film Shortage, and Retrospective of Jupiter.

You can hear Heather as Tsurukoma in Netflix's The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House (2023) and see them acting opposite Jasmin Savoy Brown in Sound of Violence (Hulu, SXSW 2021) and Scott Turner Schofield in Willa Justice: Drag Queen Private Eye (2023). They love embodying fierce, lovable characters in films and shows with unapologetic creatives, most recently Betsy Tsai's Along Away (Sundance-supported), The Last Call Theatre's The Harvest (2023-2024), and Kanani Koster's FCBK (AFI).
