Biography

Tiffany Rhodes is an American writer, director, producer, cinematographer and actress whose psychologically driven work explores identity, distorted realities, human connection and the often uncomfortable space between perception and truth. Since emerging on the independent filmmaking scene in 2016, Rhodes' films have earned more than 30 awards, screened internationally and established her as a filmmaker known for metaphoric imagery, nonlinear storytelling and an unconventional approach to the human condition. In 2020, Film Daily described Rhodes as an "auteur to watch."

Rhodes made her directorial debut with the short film Prometta mi (2017), also known as Promise Me. Filmed in Sicily, the project began an international chapter in her filmmaking career, earning recognition on the festival circuit and later airing in France. Her early work established many of the themes that would continue throughout her films: memory, identity, psychological tension and the instability of perceived reality.

In 2019, Rhodes wrote and directed Collision, an intimate psychological short in which she also appeared on screen. The film continued through the festival circuit before reaching audiences through streaming distribution. That same year she wrote and directed The Blackbird Interviews (2019), further developing the surreal, metaphor-driven visual language that became characteristic of her work. Rhodes then expanded into television with Harbor Island, a suspense drama developed as an original series and pilot. Loosely inspired by elements of Rhodes' childhood and real crime stories from Ohio, the project follows a coming-of-age story through the perspective of a 12-year-old girl. The pilot received multiple festival honors, and Rhodes served as writer, director, cinematographer and performer on the project.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted conventional production in 2020, Rhodes adapted one of her feature screenplays into the original dark-comedy series Carol (2020). Rather than waiting for traditional production to resume, the series was created remotely during quarantine, with performers recording on iPhones and a geographically distributed cast collaborating from their respective locations. Rhodes wrote and directed the series and served as its cinematographer and editor while also playing the title character. The production included an 11-member cast.

Rhodes next moved into feature filmmaking with Match Struck. Shot in North Carolina in 2020 and premiered theatrically in Davidson in October 2021, the psychological drama follows an infamous novelist whose attempt to redeem her career begins to dissolve the boundary between her fiction and reality. Rhodes wrote and directed the film, served as cinematographer and producer, and starred opposite George Katt, David Koechner, Julian Brittano, Lacy Camp and Kisha Barr. The film continued Rhodes' interest in unreliable reality and psychologically charged visual storytelling while marking the expansion of her work into feature-length filmmaking.

Match Struck received festival recognition and extensive media coverage before its commercial release by Indican Pictures in 2023. The film subsequently became available through major digital platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon and other video-on-demand services.

Rhodes' work has been profiled in film and entertainment media throughout her independent career. Her books include A Chained Beast, a collection of poetry exploring identity, freedom and transformation, and Unlocking Your Purpose: Your Guide to Freedom and Fulfillment, a guided self-discovery workbook centered on purpose, clarity and recognizing patterns across one's values, strengths and experiences.
