Biography

Eduardo Luis Argüelles is an American screenwriter and film director. He is an Emmy-nominated producer. He is of Mexican descent and was born in Los Angeles but grew up in the Philippines as the son of an expatriate engineer. He has worked professionally in the Film/TV business for over 20 years, from development to post-production. Eduardo's films depict the American Latino experience, exploring the themes of Mexican-American identity, heritage, race, and culture. His short documentary on Mexico's cultural celebration "Dia de Los Muertos" won a Pacific Southwest Emmy, and his PSA on anti-gang violence for Father Greg Boyle's Homeboy Industries was nominated for a Los Angeles area Emmy. His short film "A Dream Tonal," about the Mesoamerican belief of animal spirit 'soul loss,' won best short at the Santa Fe Metaphysical Film Festival. "Cine Loteria," a quirky, arthouse comedy, is his first narrative feature film that successfully ran at the 25th San Diego Latino Film Festival. He is currently in development on his second feature film and in post-production on a documentary about a Mexican American combat unit that fought one of the deadliest battles of World War II.
